Fit India School Week
Fit India School Week “To Plant a Garden is to Believe in Tomorrow.” Gardening is a wonderful way to reconnect students with the natural world and teach them valuable gardening skills that integrates with literacy, numeracy, oracy, health and physical education, and social studies, as well as several educational goals, including confidence, resilience and self-esteem. It gives them a sense of personal and social responsibility, and fosters positive behavior. Students learn focus, patience, cooperation, teamwork and social skills. Garden -based teaching addresses different learning styles and our non-readers can blossom in the garden! Learning is more relevant and hands-on. Students become more fit and healthy as they spend more time active in the outdoors. Our Dipsites had an active field time when they very enthusiastically participated in gardening activity. They brought plethora of ideas to create their own Mini Garden. Emphasis was on using waste material like old umbrellas, bottles, baskets etc.
